’Greenwashing’ is a term used to describe public relations spin which is deceptively used to convince the public an organisation’s products or policies are environmentally friendly.
At the COP26 conference in Glasgow, a fleet of electric vehicles ferried dignitaries around the city.
At first this appeared to be environmentally friendly, until it was revealed the vehicles were being charged by massive polluting generators out of the public eye.
CMAL and Transport Scotland have been accused by some as using this tactic because of their insistence on using Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).
Recent developments show the use of LNG on the Arran route will yield little improvements over marine gas oil - especially when it is imported from across the world.

As has the advice to build smaller vessels, to trial catamarans, to orienteer harbours and to use local knowledge to improve communications.
Once again, it has been proven that the opinion of experts and the public may have been correct. The question is have any lessons been learned?
