Nearly 170 young people from Oban, Lorn and beyond enjoyed an action-packed week of music, art, dance and Gaelic culture as Fèis Latharna’s Easter Fèis celebrated its 30th anniversary.
The four-day event saw classes at Oban Primary Campus, with 27 tutors from across Scotland providing lessons in many different instruments as well as workshops on dance, drama, singing, art, shinty, group work, film-making and sound production.
Lunchtime events included a Meet The Tutors showcase, talent show, art corner, photo booth and football.
A session at The Rockfield Centre featured tutors and young players alike stage an evening of fantastic traditional music, while the Argyllshire Gathering Halls was the venue for the annual Fèis Family Cèilidh, with music from the superb tutor team.
Fèis Latharna chairperson Davy Macdonald said: “We’re just delighted that so many young folk embraced opportunities on offer at our 30th Easter Fèis – it was an amazing week and a great way to get a taste of Gaelic, try out different instruments, learn new skills and make new friends.
"We couldn’t deliver these projects without huge support from our hard-working committee and volunteers, along with the financial support of Creative Scotland, Bòrd na Gàidhlig, Fèisean nan Gàidheal and Argyll & Bute Council.
"We’re always looking for more folk to support what we do and to develop more opportunities for our young folk, so I would urge anyone inspired by last week’s event to get in touch to find out how to get involved.”
Fèis Latharna is entirely volunteer-run.
Other projects include weekly tuition classes in accordion, fiddle, chanter/pipes, snare drumming, clàrsach and guitar, as well as monthly group work sessions and the Argyll Cèilidh Trail, an annual tour by advanced musicians aged 16-25.
