The Scottish Crofting Federation (SCF) is getting out and about to reconnect with crofters face to face and listen to their concerns.
All crofters in the area are invited to attend a meeting on Thursday May 9 in North Connel Hall from 7pm to 9pm.
New CEO Donna Smith is keen that the SCF engages with crofters at this critical time. “Just now there is a raft of legislation going through Parliament that will impact crofters for years to come: the Agriculture & Rural Communities Bill, the Land Reform Bill, the Good Food Nation Plan, National Biodiversity Strategy and the much awaited Crofting Bill.
"We really want crofters in the Oban area to join us on Thursday 9th May so that we can share information about the proposed changes and discuss how they might look on the ground for crofters.
"The Agriculture & Rural Communities Bill in particular will have a huge impact – the new requirements for receiving direct payments will be in place from as early as 2025. Crofters need to know what is happening," she said.
Staff from the area’s Rural Payments and Inspections Division office will also be at the North Connel meeting.
