If you struggle to remember when to put your bins out, you can now call on your personal voice-controlled online assistant to help you out.

Argyll and Bute Council has launched the new feature for those using the Amazon Alexa system at home, and it is designed to complement the council’s existing online bin calendar information.

This ‘skill’ as it is called by Amazon allows you to ask your smart device when your bins will next be collected. More council-related information will be added to the service over the coming year.

To access this service you will need an Amazon account and a smartphone/tablet or an Amazon Alexa device.

You can add the skill through the Amazon website or in the Alexa App.

Just open the Alexa app and follow the on-screen instructions. Log in using the username and password for your Amazon account and add the Argyll and Bute Council ‘skill’ to your Alexa Device.
