The course was in immaculate condition last weekend for the second round of the President’s Cup and first round of the John Reid Quaich at Tarbert Golf Club.

Iain Macalister was on top form, with four birdies in his round, on his way to a 70 to take first place on the day. In-form Bruce McLean was second on 73 and Bruce MacNab third on 74 bih.

In the John Reid Quaich, Bruce McLean holds the first round lead on 60 nett, followed by Iain Macalister on 63 and Iain Johnstone snr on 64. Magic twos from Duncan Johnstone and Iain Macalister.

Braving the elements on Sunday, the ladies took part in the May Stableford with Rona Young scoring a very impressive 41 points to take first place. Sheena Ferguson was next on 35 with Helen Samborek and Georgie Dickson on 31.

This weekend has medals for both the ladies and gents, with the Harbour Gallery Gents’ Open set to be held the following Saturday, June 5. Bookings can be made via the SGU app.

Junior lessons continue to thrive, with club Captain Kenny MacFarlane delighted with the response. Anyone wishing to enrol should get in touch with Kenny.
