Lochgilphead ladies Maria MacKenzie and Yvie Young have boosted the coffers of Glasgow’s Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre by £7,500.

After receiving treatment at the centre, they launched a massive fundraising drive for the Beatson Cancer Charity which saw a fantastic raffle raising thousands and many generous donations from across Mid Argyll.

Maria and Yvie recently travelled to Glasgow to present their cheque.

The ladies said: ‘The Beatson has been a huge support and the services and treatment are free. It is a special place, so we wanted to give something back.

‘We thank everyone who has donated and supported us in our fundraising. People have been so generous.’
