The annual Strathlachlan Cup Open Pairs indoor bowling competition took place on Saturday February 23 at Strachur Memorial Hall.

There was a good turnout of 19 pairs with members from Cairnbaan, Colintraive, Connel, Innellan, Inveraray, Kilmun as well as the host club  Strathlachlan.

There were some close games in the qualifying rounds and the lucky four pairs to reach the semi-finals were Tom Paton and Moira Robertson, Strathlachlan; Myra Campbell and Duncan Lauder, Innellan; Fulton Ronald, Connel, and Robert Scott, Cairnbaan, and John ‘Joe’ Campbell and Ross Speirs Senior, Strathlachlan.

The finalists were Strathlachlan’s John ‘Joe’ Campbell and Ross Speirs v Fulton Ronald and Robert Scott, with the visiting team going into the last end one shot up. After a nail-biting final end, Fulton and Robert held on to their lead to take the trophy.

Strathlachlan Carpet Bowling Club thank everyone who came to support them, Kilmun Bowling Club for the use of additional equipment and the ladies in the kitchen for keeping everyone topped up with refreshments throughout the night. They hope to see everyone next year.
