Lochgilphead’s Co-op and Dochas Centre have teamed up to walk one million steps.

Armed with fitness trackers, five members of the Co-op team are celebrating the Dochas Centre’s 21st birthday by raising money. Aiming to reach one million steps by Monday February 25, to reach it they’ll have to hit at least 125,000 steps a day.

The group started at the Dochas Centre on Monday February 18, and to get a head start, walked back to work, where a bucket was waiting for donations. The money will go towards equiping and furnishing the new Dochas Centre extension.

Lochgilphead’s Dochas Centre turns 21 on Thursday February 28 when it will host a party to celebrate, including drinks and nibbles.

Catherine Paterson, co-founder of the Dochas with her husband John, said: ‘Thank you to the staff of our local Co-op and to the community for supporting the Dochas Fund in many ways including sponsoring the staff at Lochgilphead Co-op. You all help make your community a place where people can find information and support to keep caring for those they love.’
