Glasgow Celtic Society Cup
ColGlen 0 – Inveraray 7

A scoreline of seven goals to Inveraray and zero for home side ColGlen suggests this was a cup tie formality for the higher league side.

But ‘the Glen’ are never a pushover at home – as Inveraray, currently playing in shinty’s Marine Harvest National Division, were reminded in this Glasgow Celtic Society Cup second round match on Saturday April 21.

A slightly off-colour Inveraray were faced with determined resistance from the South Division One outfit and some fine displays from younger members of the ColGlen team.

The score stood at 2-0 well into the second half before a late goal flurry put a wee bit of gloss on the result for Inveraray. Among the Inveraray scorers was young Fraser Watt, who bagged a hat-trick.

But sterner tests await the Loch Fyne-side men in the semi-finals of shinty’s oldest competition.

Also through to the semis are Kyles Athletic, Glasgow Mid Argyll and Oban Camanachd.
