West Highland Housing Association will officially open 18 new homes in Dail na Mara and Port Ellen, Islay, tomorrow (Saturday September 9), providing more affordable housing on the island.
The project has been completed by the Ian MacTaggart Trust, Argyll and Bute Council and West Highland Housing Association.
In addition, to celebrate Scottish Housing day, several drop-in sessions are being held in the area. The first events are being held on Islay and Jura today (September 8).
The council’s policy lead for housing, Councillor Robin Currie, said: ‘These drop-in events are a great way for people to get information and advice on a wide variety of housing issues.
‘Whether they want to find out how to apply for a house, want to know which grants are available or want to discuss the condition of their existing property, there will be someone on hand who will be happy to help.
‘It’s important events like these take place in our communities to ensure people are given the opportunity to raise any issues they may have and to find out how we can help them.’
