A poignant ceremony to remember children who have passed away saw butterflies released from Kilmory Castle gardens.

The butterfly release on Saturday September 2 was organised by the Lochgilphead support group of the Simpson’s Memory Box Appeal.

Youngsters Scott and Deri France, Kenzie Campbell, Zoe Stewart and Phoebe Barkley read a poem prior to the butterflies being released to clarinet music played by Caitlin Campbell.

A buffet lunch at The Stag Hotel in Lochgilphead followed.

Tracey France of the support group said: ‘The butterfly release is to remember the children and babies who have very sadly been lost and who we won’t see grow up.’

The Lochgilphead group supports parents who have lost children through miscarriage or still birth and meets on the last Thursday of every month between 7 and 9pm at the Stag Hotel.
