Reasons unknown

No chances were being taken by the emergency services after Tuesday’s suspected contamination case in Tarbert – quite rightly.

But it is strange that no cause has yet been found to explain the fact that six people, presumably suddenly, felt unwell in the same room at the same time.

There was heavy rain in Tarbert just before the scare happened and the village’s occasionally suspect drains have been under the spotlight as a potential cause of noxious fumes.

Scottish Water has dismissed this theory, so what else might it have been?

All’s well that ends well, so there is scope for a wee bit of light-hearted fun. One wag suggested that, since it was Tarbert, it was probably a box of fish in a corner. Another notion was that someone’s gorgonzola delivery from Amazon had gone wrong.

Conquering heroes return

Last week’s front page was all about Inveraray’s world champion pipe band.

Tomorrow (Saturday) night will see the full band play on the streets of Inveraray after competing at the Cowal Games earlier in the day.

This is the chance for Inveraray to show its appreciation, and for the band to reciprocate. Let’s make it an evening to remember.
