The World Caber Championships return to Inveraray Highland Games for the eighth year in a row.

Sponsored by the George Hotel, this prestigious event attracts the highest calibre of athletes from all over the world – from as far afield as Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada and Germany – to compete against Scotland’s home-grown talent.

With its beautiful location at the head of Loch Fyne, Inveraray Highland Games will be held on Tuesday July 18 in the grounds of Inveraray Castle. They will be opened by the Duke of Argyll, chief of the Clan Campbell.

Throughout the day there will be plenty family games, great food and drink, souvenir shopping, side shows and a children’s activity tent.

There is the usual mix of track and ‘heavy’ events for sporty visitors, while both Scottish Highland dancing and solo piping will appeal to those with a more artistic bent.

Inveraray and District Pipe Band, recently crowned Grade One British Champions, will parade through the town at 10.45am with the main events starting shortly afterwards.
