Glenralloch was in superb condition for the first round of the Tarbert Golf Club Championship. There was the added bonus on a beautiful sunny day with a strong breeze to make play interesting.
Iain Johnstone jnr, a mighty hitter of the golf ball set the early pace with a 74-14 for a nett 60, and was joined by playing partner Iain Macalister, also on 74. Roddy MacDonald making his first outing of the season finished on 73 with defending champion Bruce MacNab slipping into first place on 67. The conditions on Sunday couldn’t be more different as it rained continuously throughout the day’s play. The course, however, held up well thanks to the excellent work of Graeme Prentice and Jim Brownlie.

Both Kenny MacFarlane and John MacNab played much more like themselves with a pair of 72s while Chris Smyth was slightly further back on 75.
