Organisers are promising an Ardrishaig Gala Day to remember this year. Mid Argyll Pipe Band, organising the event for the second year running, is hoping to build on the success of last year and make it one of the best gala days in recent times.
Kicking off the weekend on Friday evening is the traditional over 30s v under 30s football match at the King George V park with a 7pm kick-off. Also on Friday evening there will be a children’s disco in Ardrishaig Public Hall where the gala queen, king, princess and prince will be crowned among lots of other fun activities.
On Saturday the gala opening parade will set off from Pier Square at the earlier time of 1.15pm led by Mid Argyll Pipe Band. The parade will include the gala royalty escorted by Goldie, floats and other guests.
Throughout the day there will be the usual stalls and amusements including MacPool’s Water Walkers, Beat the Goalie and performances from Mid Argyll Pipe Band.
The gala dance on Saturday night will round off the day’s activities. Starting at 8pm in the public hall, ceilidh band Crackin’ Craic from Oban will get people moving on the dance floor. Tickets for the dance are £5 and on sale in the Rumblin’ Tum, Ardrishaig and Ferguson Butchers in Lochgilphead.
