Inveraray Highland Games,July 2011. Thousands of people flocked to Inveraray Highland Games in July 2011. Tarbert Seafood Festival has been hailed a resounding success by all who attended the event,the first weekend of July,2011. Crinan was a hive activity as the annual Crinan Classic Boat Festival took place. Dozens of pupils at Lochgilphead High School were recognised for their academic and sporting achievements at the school’s annual prize giving ceremony. Parents,friends and community representatives joined students and staff to mark the end of the 2011 academic school year. Lochgilphead held an Armed Forces Day,on Saturday June 18,2011,with a parade and stalls on the front green. More than 100 armed forces personnel and veterans lined the town’s streets. Representatives from The Royal British Legion Scotland,Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Association,as well as veterans from across Scotland,including Erskine,attended the event. Sea,army and air cadets were also in attendance. From cone shaped dos,to an elaborate fan of peacock feathers,the Argyll College Hair Show certainly didn’t disappoint its audience. Spectators packed into Lochgilphead Joint Campus on Thursday May 12 2011 for the annual event,which this year raised money for the MS Centre in Lochgilphead. This year’s Mid Argyll Music Festival has been hailed a success by organisers. Held over seven days,the festival saw adults and youngsters take part in a range of classes from piping,to Scots Verse,and instrumental classes. Although this year’s event saw a drop in numbers,organiser Sheila McCallum said it was ‘without a doubt a success’with preparations now commencing for next year’s event.
