FOUR-year-old Ryan Taylor got to grips with Nelly the Elephant’s trunk on Tarbert Harbour on Saturday. Nelly joined firefighter Steven Black at the annual Tarbert Raft Race in a bid to raise money for the Strathclyde Fire Brigade Benevolent Fund. The fund supports firefighters injured on duty as well as local charities and initiatives. The Tarbert Church Fund will get a share of the £1,200 raised by Tarbert firefighters at the weekend. TARBERT Academy ended the school term with its annual awards ceremony. Held at the end of June, the prizegiving saw parents, grandparents and friends gather in the school hall to celebrate the efforts of the students over the past school year.

THE WEATHER may not have been too kind for Tarbert Seafood Festival but it certainly didn’t dampen the spirits of all who took part. From stunt cyclists to cooking demonstrations and classic cars to market stalls, the festival certainly had something for everyone.

IT WASN’T just the fantastic weather that had the mercury rising in Tarbert on Thursday June 17 but the atmosphere from the Village Hall as Music Centre students raised the roof for their summer concert. Students from both primary and secondary performed to the packed hall and they did not disappoint.
