INVERARAY and District Pipe Band will hit the road again this weekend to take part in the 2009 British Championships in Banbridge, Northern Ireland.
Following on from their impressive start to their first season in Grade Two competitions where they won the Scottish Championships at Dumbarton, the band have attended minor competitions at Bearsden and Helensburgh and won on both occasions.
The new Novice Juvenile band has also had a fine start to their first season competing.
After coming seventh in the Scottish Championships the ‘wee band’ took third place at Bearsden and second place at Helensburgh. The youngsters will not be making the trip to Ireland with the senior band but will perform at Balloch Highland Games on July 18.
The George Hotel has generously agreed to provide sponsorship for the British Championships which will greatly assist with the travel costs.
The band is grateful to all its sponsors and in particular to The George Hotel who have been stalwart supporters since its inception.
Some of the band members also have part time jobs in The George and the management is very supportive in ensuring that they are given flexibility to allow them to attend practices and competitions.
