NEWBORN Mirrin Rose Bowden caused a bit of a panic last Friday when she decided to make an early appearance in a lay-by at Inveraray.
The 7lb 5oz tot was born in the back of an ambulance outside Inveraray golf course eight days early – and her proud dad is still recovering from the shock.
Popular Lochgilphead man Tristan, aged 33, said: ‘My partner Joanne went into labour at 4am and left to go to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley in an ambulance at 8am. I followed in my car, but got a phone call from the paramedics telling me to hurry up because the baby was coming.’
Tristan got to the lay-by with 20 minutes to spare, and is thrilled that he made it in time to see his first child being born.
‘We’ve been told that only 16 babies have been born in an ambulance in this area in over 20 years, and Mirrin is the first born in a lay-by’, he said.
‘The midwife was amazing and Joanne and I are over the moon because we’ve got a beautiful baby daughter.
‘Everybody thinks it’s really funny, and I’m sure she’ll have fun telling her friends about her delivery when she’s older.’
