LOCAL residents have described the former Lochgilphead Primary School site as ‘the Gorbals’ this week.
One woman told the Advertiser that metal bars on the windows makes the building look like ‘Colditz’ adding: ‘The grass is so long that you could lose small children in it.’
‘I am fed up with the state of the place and want to know what Argyll and Bute Council intend to do about it. Surely they should be maintaining it until a decision has been made about the use.
Another nearby resident went on: ‘There is graffiti on the walls, fences are broken and it looks like an eyesore.
‘People are using the school grounds as a shortcut and the deterioration is horrendous.
A spokeswoman for Argyll and Bute Council said the grass would be cut soon, but that there had been no decision yet taken on the future of the building.
The spokeswoman said: ‘A report went to the Executive on December 20, where it was noted that a number of interests had been received in respect of the Lochgilphead Primary School site, and that an exercise will be carried out in order to pursue these options, with a report coming back to members to make a decision on how to proceed.’
