MID ARGYLL was hit by torrential rainstorms on the first day of July, and Lochgilphead’s Argyll Street was abandoned with residents preferring to stay indoors than brave the elements.
One woman attempted to brighten the place up with her sunshine umbrella, and a spokesperson at the Met Office confirmed that sunnier days are on the horizon. He added: ‘The weather has been very unsettled which can be very disappointing at this time of year. The days will get brighter and sunnier but there will still be heavy showers at times.’
A Lochgilphead shopkeeper blamed the weather for the downturn in his trade. He said on Tuesday: ‘It makes such a big difference to my business and the local economy in general when the sun is shining. There has been nobody in the street today.’
