A TARBERT woman has raised more than £2000 for Pancreatic Cancer after running the Edinburgh 10k recently.
Argyllshire Advertiser readers may remember a story on Claire Johnson and her grandfather Harry Keith on May 2.
The plucky 25-year-old pledged to run the Edinburgh-based event to raise money for research into Pancreatic Cancer, a condition her grandfather was recently diagnosed with.
Recognised
Claire managed to complete the run in one hour and 19 minutes, raising £2075 for her efforts.
She said: ‘I was really happy with the time as it was a hilly course and very hot running in my costume, although I was very surprised at the start when someone came over to say they recognised me from The Argyllshire Advertiser.’
Claire continued: ‘After the race I felt fine and was just so happy to have completed it, especially for my Papa.
‘My Papa and I just can’t believe the support from everyone and find it amazing the amount of money such a small village has raised to help research pancreatic cancer.
‘The pain was well worth it as I’m sure the money that has been raised will go to great use and hopefully help stop others go through what my Papa and our family are dealing with now.’
