THE HELIPAD at the new Mid Argyll Community Hospital is now up and running after some teething difficulties.
NHS Highland confirmed it was officially available last week and can now be used to airlift patients to hospitals across Scotland.
The news comes amidst rumours the helipad had not been fully completed by contractors and was not suitable for helicopters to land on.
At a meeting of Lochgilphead Community Centre on Monday night, chairman Mike Roberts raised the issue.
A spokesman for NHS Highland said: ‘The helipad at the Mid Argyll Community Hospital is now fully commissioned and was handed over to the hospital last Thursday, meaning that it is now operational.’
He also confirmed the Scottish Ambulance Service had been informed the helipad was up and running.
