A LORRY toppled over and crashed through a garden wall in Tarbert on Saturday – and local residents described it as a ‘miracle’ that no one was seriously hurt.
The small goods vehicle was travelling into the village around 8.30am when it lost control at Mossbank and overturned.
Nearby resident Wilma Watts rushed to the scene after the second accident at the same spot within two weeks, and said if it had been a weekday, there would have been children walking along the footpath at the side of the road going to school.
She added: ‘It seems a miracle that no one was badly hurt and no pedestrians were involved.
‘This stretch of road has suffered since the white line was removed. Police told us that to have a white line on the road it has to be 18 feet wide, and this stretch is only 16ft 2in, but there is a grass verge, which could be incorporated to get the 18 feet required.’
A Strathclyde police spokesman at Lochgilphead said: ‘The accident took place in Barmore Road and the A83 was closed for an hour and a half. A man has been reported to the procurator fiscal for alleged careless driving.’
