Ardrishaig sailors are ready

BOATS of all shapes and sizes were lowered into the water at Ardrishaig last Saturday.

Around 26 boats were craned into the sea as part of Ardrishaig Boat Club’s annual boat launch.

Easterly winds meant tricky conditions to get the boats away from the pier but some slick crane control by Euan Cameron meant the day ran smoothly.

Commodore of Ardrishaig Boat Club, John McCartan, said: ‘It was a very difficult day for us because the wind was naturally drifting the boats back onto the shore.

‘The guys operating the crane have been excellent as safety is a big concern for us – each boat weighs at least a couple of tons so we have to be really careful.’

A total of £65 was raised during Saturday’s event to assist Strathclyde Police in buying a defibrillator.

The boat club in Ardrishaig has been in existence for more than 30 years.
