Young footballers end winter season with prizegiving
Park charges may stall new season plans
Published:  04 April, 2008

LOCHGILPHEAD Soccer Centre recently completed its winter session with the presentation of prizes for the winter leagues and a training session led by Total Soccer Experience from Paisley.

Despite the problems caused by the roof damage at the sports hall the leagues were completed on schedule with the children from primary four upwards braving the cold winter mornings on the all weather pitch.

The primary 1 boys and girls, experiencing the soccer centre for the first time, showed great enthusiasm to learn new football skills. Their medals, certificates and footballs were well deserved.

The leagues, in four age groups from primary two upwards, were all well contested with three of the four decided on the last day.

Trophies were presented to the winning teams by the Total Soccer coaches and medals to the runners-up.

The soccer centre is now on a break until after the school holidays, returning again on Saturday, April 26.

Unfortunately after 13 years at the Ropework Park for the summer session it is unavailable to the soccer centre this year due to the increase in requests for training.

With the grass pitches at the Lochgilphead Joint Campus not yet playable the soccer centre is faced with a significant increase in booking charges so a reduced session will take place on the all weather pitch at the campus.

New members are welcome and anyone interested in joining the soccer centre should contact the club’s enrolment secretary, Rona Meechan, on 01546 603378.
