SURROUNDED by family and friends Bill (82) and Margaret (93) Studholme celebrated an impressive 60 years marriage last week.
The couple, who have lived at Silvercraigs, near Lochgilphead for 40 years, were surprised by more than 30 friends and relatives at the ARMS centre last Tuesday.
The couple were married in Edinburgh in 1948 while Mr Studholme was still in the army.
Walking down the aisle at the tender ages of 23 and 34-years the couple proved that their marriage could stand the test of time.
When The Argyllshire Advertiser asked what the secret to a long and happy marriage was, Mr Studholme replied: ‘Concentrating on common interests.
‘We are both into music and amateur dramatics as well as ballet and the countryside.’
Mr Studholme taught chemistry at Lochgilphead High School for 12 years as a principal teacher, while Mrs Studholme was a professional singer and teacher for many years in Ardrossan.
The couple are both still actively involved in the Argyll Drama Festival as well as other local organisations.
As part of last week’s celebrations they received a signed card from the HM the Queen as well as being presented with flowers from Argyll and Bute Council.
