Kilberry car wreck raises anger
Published:  04 April, 2008

LOCAL residents near Kilberry are furious that nobody is taking responsibility for an abandoned car that left the road and landed in a field.

The driver of the white Renault crashed into a private field before Christmas last year, and has still not had it removed from the scene of the accident.

Neil Duncan of Stonefield Farm said this week he wants to ‘shame’ Strathclyde Police or Argyll and Bute Council into moving the car, but both say there is nothing they can do.

Local residents near Kilberry are furious that nobody is taking responsibility for an abandoned car left in a field following an accident last year.

Because the car left the B8024 road and landed in a private field, Argyll and Bute Council say the responsibility lies with the owner of the car.

A spokesman for Strathclyde Police confirmed they are trying to make arrangements with the owner to have it removed from the field.

Neil Duncan of Stonefield farm said the wrecked car is an ‘eyesore’ and that many passing drivers think the accident has just happened and get out to help.

He added: ‘This car has been causing problems for months and it is infuriating that nothing has been done.

‘Nobody appears to be taking responsibility for the car and there has been a real lack of response and willingness to help among the authorities. We need to shame them or the owner into taking action here and get somebody to move that vehicle.’
