ACHNAMARA man Bob McIlwraith has narrowly missed out on a gong at Forward Scotland’s Champions for Sustainable Communities awards.
Mr McIlwraith, a biomass development officer with the Argyll, Lomond and the Isles Energy Agency (ALIenergy) was one of seven finalists from across Scotland in the Public/Third Sector category.
The 64-year-old was recognised for his efforts in establishing a number of renewable and sustainable wood-fuel projects in Argyll and beyond.
The awards ceremony was held in Edinburgh’s Apex International Hotel on Tuesday, March 18.
Mr McIlwraith, who lives in Kilmicheal of Inverlussa in Achnamara said: ‘I was delighted to receive a Forward Scotland Champions nomination and see it as a recognition of the contribution biomass fuel can make to sustainable communities.’
The organisation’s Frazer Scott said: ‘All 20 nominees were of an excellent calibre and should be proud of their valuable efforts towards sustainability.’
