Ardrishaig Guides need new leader
Published:  21 March, 2008

GUIDES in Ardrishaig are on the hunt for a new leader.

After four years at the helm, current leader Mary Semple is leaving at the end of June.

Alison McGinty, an assistant guide leader, will temporarily look after the guides until a replacement leader is found.

Explaining what the position entails, Mrs Semple said: ‘You don’t need any experience of guiding to be a guide leader but having an interest and lots of ideas would be preferred.

‘You never feel on your own because there’s lots of support available. The guides finish in June to coincide with the school holidays and will restart in September, but if no-one comes forward then they will cease to exist.

‘Guiding is good fun and the girls learn all kinds of valuable skills.

‘As a guide leader you gain a sense of achievement.’

Anyone who is interested in becoming a leader for Ardrishaig guides should contact Mary Elder, District Commissioner for Mid Argyll on 01880 820641.
