FIVE jobs are to go at Highlands and Islands enterprise (HIE) in Lochgilphead following the Scottish Government’s proposed reorganisation last year.
Argyll and the Islands Enterprise (AIE) chairman Ken Abernethy said that there was an ongoing ‘programme of reductions’ across the Highlands and Islands enterprise network.
Some staff within HIE have been transferred to the Government’s new skills network, Skills Development Scotland (SDS), while other have taken voluntary redundancy.
Mr Abernethy said: ‘There is a programme of reductions across the Highlands and islands which is in the process of happening.
‘There has been transfers of staff to SDS, which includes all careers staff and staff involved in government schemes.
‘There are some staff reductions in the HIE’s Lochgilphead office. The numbers are difficult. When you take out Careers Scotland and government training programmes and those taking voluntary severance, we are down to about 22 people in HIE in the Argyll area.’
