A TARBERT businessman with more than 10 years experience took over a well-established Ardrishaig company this week.
Darran Mellish of Mellex Plant and Construction is now the owner of West Coast Tool and Plant Hire in Ardrishaig. Mr Mellish stepped into his new role on Monday after purchasing the company earlier in the month.
The 27-year-old wants to continue to build on the already-established excellent reputation that previous owners, Neil and Lucinda Hopkinson created.
Mr Mellish said: ‘I will continue to provide a first class service in hire, sales and maintainence equipment and will continue with the high level of service which has always been provided by West Coast Tool and Plant hire.’
The company will continue in the form it has always been operated in but Mr Mellish will be introducing additional hire equipment. This will include slightly larger dumpers, excavators and track dumpers, which Mr Mellish says ‘will be well suited to the Argyll weather and ground conditions’.
The company will also be manufacturing and selling hydrolic hoses for all types of plant and machinery.
West Coast Tool and Plant Hire will now work in conjunction with Mellex plant and construction, which was established in 1998 and carries out larger operative plant machinery hire, including contract work.
