TWELVE-year-old Fabienne Renfrew, from Oakfield Estate, Lochgilphead has been jumping for joy after grabbing a first place in point-to-point steeplechase.
Fabienne, a member of North Argyll Pony Club, won her race by 20 lengths on her pony Rosie’s Reflection at the races at Overton, Lanark, on February 16.
This Sunday (March 2) it’s off to Corbridge, Northumberland, for the Tyneside Point-to-Point where she hopes to build on that success.
The big challenge comes in the summer when the Charles Owen Racing Series commences with races in Musselburgh, Kelso and Perth. Success could mean a trip to Aintree in October for the UK finals.
Although Fabienne won a point-to-point race last year, she was a month too young to compete in the Racing Series.
Fabienne’s mother Dr Jane Renfrew said: ‘It’s tough for us travelling to all the competitions but we’re looking forward to seeing how she gets on this year with a new pony. She’s the only one in Argyll taking part in these.’
