ALL-WEATHER football is underway at the new Lochgilphead Joint Campus, with the Lochgilphead Soccer centre using the outdoor synthetic pitch for Saturday morning coaching sessions and midweek team training.
Whilst the need to cancel sessions as a result of poor weather has reduced, the ability to hold sessions in otherwise unplayable conditions has meant that the youngsters’ exposure to the elements has increased.
Thanks to generous sponsorship from Andersons Coaches of Tayvallich and to a recent donation from the Strathclyde Police Community Fund, the Soccer Centre has now been able to provide players from the P4 to S2 age groups with waterproof jackets, in order that they are able to take full advantage of the all-weather facilities.
Roddy Anderson of Anderson Coaches and Strathclyde Police were on hand on Friday, February 1 at the new school, in order to accept the formal thanks of the coaches and children for the valuable support they have given.
The Soccer Centre is entirely volunteer run and provides tuition from qualified coaches for around a hundred children each week, along with competitive football opportunities for those showing the most promise in their respective age groups.
