The Lochgair Association’s Burns Supper was well attended by locals and honoured guests alike. It was a traditional evening, with an all Mid-Argyll ‘cast’.

Chairman Tom McKay started proceedings with The Selkirk Grace, and the haggis was piped in by Craig Laing, carried by John Barleycorn himself, and lauded with Ian Duncan’s Address to the Haggis.

The five-course supper was cooked and served by the ladies of the lunch club, and the ‘ongoings’ provided by Hamish Thomson’s The Immortal Memory, the Toast to the Lassies by Douglas Murray, and Wilma Campbell’s Reply From the Lassies were all well received.

Jean Smith provided some poetic culinary advice if ‘the Chieftain o’ the Puddin’ Race’ springs a leak, and Henry Dargie’s Tam o’Shanter was the bard’s final work of the evening.

Singer Moira Shaw regaled the audience with her beautiful performance of Burns songs, and Craig Lang gave a stirring piping medley.

Profits from the raffle of £216 will be allocated to the Association’s funds for further improvements to the village hall.
