MID ARGYLL writer Marian Pallister, who lives at Kilmichael Glassary, was in Lochgilphead last Saturday signing copies of her latest book.
Marian’s book, Argyll Curiosities, contains information about planned railways from Scotland to Northern Ireland and maps showing where they might go. It also relates the story of a disaster in Crarae quarry in 1886 and the painting of Christ on Davaar Island among other ‘curiosities’.
Marian has been a journalist for over 40 years and lectured for a time at Edinburgh’s Napier University.
After moving to the area 10 years ago, Marian started delving into the history of the Argyll area before starting to write on the subject, and her three previous books have sold very well. She said: ‘I find this area fascinating, and there’s a lot of material in my books that local people would find very interesting.’
