Scottish dance delight

ARDRISHAIG is to play host to a visit by Dundee-based Scottish Dance Theatre, our national contemporary dance company.

The dancers will first be offering a dance workshop in Ardrishaig Public Hall on Wednesday, November 21, from 5 – 6.30pm. This will be open to adults and secondary school students.

Following this at 7.30pm, the company will give one of their excellent lecture/demonstrations. This will give viewers a chance to enjoy their dance style with an informal presentation allowing the audience to watch excerpts from the works currently on tour alongside lucid explanations. This introduces spectators to the work of modern choreographers with the opportunity to understand what both the creators and dancers hope it all means!

There will also be time to ask questions and meet the dancers themselves which is always fascinating.

On the next morning the dancers are also finding time to take a workshop for the Dochas Dancers from the Lochgilphead Resource Centre, shared with their guests from the Moleigh Dancers from Oban.

All this before the company crosses the sea to Islay where another lecture/demonstration takes place in Bowmore.

It is not often a small venue in Mid Argyll gets the chance to host professionals of this company’s calibre and it is hoped the community will support such a venture.
