FORTY-FOUR runners turned out to Ormsary Estate, Ormsary, on Sunday 4th November for the inaugural staging of the ‘Tin Farm 5’. The race took runners on a challenging 5-mile loop covering some tough off road sections, where the going was steep and muddy in places. The overall winner of the event went to Ardrishaig runner Stephen Whiston in a fantastic time of 34mins 37secs. Local Ormsary athlete Andy Bevis took second in 36.28 and third went to John Rea of Inverinan in 37.04.

The ladies race was close run with Sheila Lawson of Easdale coming in first in a time of 42.45. Inverary athlete, Fiona Corner came in 14secs later to take second in a time of 42.59 and Francis Hardie of Tarbert took third in 43.58.

Thirteen-year-old Toby Corner of Inverary produced the star performance of the day, winning the junior male section in 39.48.

Toby came in 7th overall beating many very good senior athletes. (including his Dad!) Second in the junior boys category went to Ruairidh Donald from Ormsary in a time of 48.27, third also from Ormsary in a time of 48.28 was Lewis MacNicol.

Two Ormsary girls contested the junior girls category, in a sprint finish Tess Donald beat Christina Butowski to the line by 1sec to win in a time of 56.49. Prizes also went to the first local adult runners. Andy Bevis took the prize for the men and Jo Martin of Kilberry took home the female prize. Eileen Wilson of Dalavich took the ‘Most Courageous Effort’ Award.

The organisers would like to thank Sir William and Lady Lithgow for kindly allowing full access of the estate for the day. Landcatch Ltd very kindly sponsored the event with Ormsary Farmers, Intersport, Fyne Tackle, Crinan Cycles and the CO-OP, all donating prizes. Thanks also go to all the marshals, helpers and runners without whom the event could not have gone ahead.
