SENSHI Do Karate hosted its fourth annual tournament at the Mid Argyll Sports Centre in Lochgilphead on Sunday October 23 for Junior members. There were five different categories taking into account various ages & grades with children from all over Argyll competing for titles & trophies.
Senshi Do Karate would like to thank Stuart MacDonald Builders of Tarbert & Howden’s Joinery of Campbeltown for their kind sponsorship of the trophies.
The various category results were as follows: Cat 1: 1 Dougie Ritchie (Barbreck), 2 George Ritchie (Barbreck), 3 Ben Evans-Steele (Ardfern)
Cat 3: 1 Kyle Doull (Lochgilphead), 2 Michael Bertioli (Tarbert)
Cat 2 and 4: 1 Ethan Lekalake (Ardrishaig), 2 Katie MacDonald (Tarbert), 3 Robbie McDougall (Ardrishaig)
Cat 5: 1 Mark Welsh (Oban), 2 Amy Campbell (Oban)
Cat 6: 1 Amy Campbell (Oban), 2 Mark Welsh (Oban), 3 Ethan Lekalake (Ardrishaig)
Anyone interested in learning karate should contact Iain Rodger on 07808 315686. Also on the same day was Argyll’s first ‘Knockdown Karate’ tournament for adults. This is a form of traditional karate fighting which involves full contact strikes with the objective being to knock your opponent down. All of the fighters showed great spirit and should be congratulated for just taking part.
Results were as follows: 1 James Stewart (Oban), 2 Matthew Lane (Oban), 3 Stuart MacDonald (Tarbert). Most spirited fighter award went to Andrew Davies (Oban)
