Sunday racing draws the crowds
Published:  10 August, 2007

THE Autocross Club, in a bid to increase the attendance of competitors and spectators this month, changes their event from a Saturday to a Sunday afternoon.

This move saw an increase in the number of spectators but unfortunately a decrease in the number of competitors.

However, a good day’s racing started on time at high noon and continued throughout the afternoon. Ian McGlynn put in another good day’s racing and Brian Duncan proved that being over 40 (in more ways than one) gives you the right to pass old fellas on corners.

After 42 races the results were as follows: 1 James McEwen (Dunbeg) – Mazda, 2 Iain McGlynn (Lochgilphead) – Subaru, 3 Gordon Gauld (Lochgilphead) – Ford.

The next event will take place on Sunday, September 2 at noon. New drivers are welcome and should contact Goldie on 01546 602743.

Special thanks to Forestry Commission Scotland, Whitegates.
