SEVENTEEN-year-old Lochgilphead footballer Cameron (Cammy) MacDonald has made good progress at the start of his second season with Livingston F.C.
Cammy has played regular reserve games and over thirty Under-19 matches last season, helping the team finish joint runners up of the SPL U-19 division and reaching the League Cup Final (which is yet to be played). Under new boss Mark Proctor and Graham Roberts (youth), Cammy was named as U-19s captain for this coming season. He has also been given his first team debut by the management team, having played the last 40 minutes of the friendly match against Hibs and the final 20 minutes of the friendly 3–0 win against Halifax Town.
Cammy said: ‘I was chuffed to get my first team start, especially at just 17. Although the new gaffer is very much pro-youth, I realise that I am fairly young and inexperienced for a first-team centre half and competition for the squad this season will be very competitive, but hopefully if I can turn in good performances at U-19 level, I can push for a permanent place in the squad later in the season.’
Cammy is currently sponsored by two local firms – www.argyll4sale.net and A & D Watt Plumbing and Heating Ltd.
