LOCHGILPHEAD’S Andy Hetherington has been on target over the last few weeks, shooting 100/298 in the Home International on July 13, gaining third place in the Scottish team. The team overall were third out of five in very wet and windy conditions on the Friday.
The following day was still windy but this didn’t deter the 500 competitors. Andy scored 100/297, finishing in third place after winning a shoot off against four others including the current world champion. The winning score of the day was 100/298.
Andy also won the Whitbread Shield for the highest scoring Scottish shooter of the British Open and the Red Hackle Cup for the highest scoring Scottish shooter over the two-day event with a score of 200/595 out of a possible 200/600.
Andy’s sharp shooting continued last week at the Cairndow Open on Saturday. Andy won with a score of 49/142 out of a possible 50/145. John Gilchrist of Campbeltown won the ten bird competition, Bob MacColl of Tarbert won the first 15 bird competition and Andy won the second 15 bird competition, the double rise and the high gun.
