Towpath investment makes canal path easier to use

A £157,000 investment in the towpath of the Crinan Canal has made ‘one of the world’s most beautiful shortcuts’ much easier to walk, run and cycle.

The money was used to resurface a 1,200m stretch of the towpath between Dunardry and Cairnbaan with a robust, all-weather path.

New Lochgilphead mental health hospital delayed

The new £9.5 million state-of-the-art hospital, due to open in Lochgilphead this year, will not open until 2016 at the earliest, NHS Highland has revealed.
