<p>Historic Scotland will be in Kilmartin this week to visit two prehistoric rock-art sites that may be added to the country’s list of scheduled monuments for the first time.<br />

<p>The castle, which attracts thousands of visitors to Mid Argyll every year, will be open to people living in Strachur, Minard and Dalmally free of charge next Sunday, May 13.</p>
<p>Launching the 2012 locals day, Inveraray Estate is inviting families living in postcode areas PA27, PA32, PA33 and PA35, free access to the castle and its renowned gardens.</p>
<p>The event runs from 10am to 5pm and visitors to the tearoom can also view artwork by Inveraray Primary School pupils, who have been painting bluebells to mark the Royal Burgh’s 2012 Bluebell Festival.</p>

<p>Reverend Hilda Smith from the Argyll Street church said the tendering process for the extensive works had started.</p>
<p>She said tenders for the work should be received by the end of May and added it was hoped work could commence on site by the end of June.</p>
<p>The church hall renovation is phase one of a wider project that will see the church refurbished, with its roof repaired and an extension built at the back.</p>
