Family support drives Inveraray’s running mum

AN INVERARAY woman has made a stunning return to athletics after years away from the sport.

Mum-of-two Lesley Pirie achieved a lifetime ambition last month, completing the London Marathon – but not content with simply getting round the course, Lesley crossed the line as the second placed female Scots runner overall.

Lesley puts her improvement down to a new-found focus, combined with a support network of family and friends.

The hard graft is paying off, and last weekend Lesley pulled on a Scotland vest for the first time.
