Police issue urgent witness appeals


POLICE officers in Argyll are looking for help from the public concerning two recent incidents.

Housebreaking in Furnace

A house on the Loch Fyne side of the A83 trunk road, near the main Furnace village junction, was broken into between 1.30pm on Tuesday April 5 and 2.15pm on Wednesday April 6. Cash and other items were stolen.

Road Traffic Collision – A83 Clachan

About 12.30pm on Wednesday April 6 on the A83 a mile south of Clachan, Kintyre, a silver Honda Civic collided with a white Mercedes box van. Both drivers were injured, though not seriously.

The woman who was driving the car was taken to hospital in Glasgow by air ambulance, while the man driving the box van was taken to Campbeltown hospital.

The road was closed while the incident was ongoing and reopened about 3.40pm.

Police are investigating both of these incidents and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with any information to contact them on 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
