Faulty radio blamed for turbine lorry leaving road

06_a38turbine02AN INVESTIGATION into the accident on September 27 which saw a lorry carrying a wind tower over turn and block the A83 near Tarbert for 20 hours has identified a faulty radio as the cause of the accident.

Siemens,the company contracted to transport wind turbine parts between Machranish and the Carraig Gheal windfarm site,has said errors in the radio hardware affecting communication between driver and escort was the ‘root cause of the incident’.
