Tourism organisations in Mid Argyll believe that visitor numbers to the area fell by as much as 36 per cent while the A83 was closed at the beginning of August 2012 becasue of a landslide.
Mike Story,Argyll and the Isles Tourism’s executive director, said: ‘It’s not just the closure,it’s the uncertainty – visitors won’t have the confidence to come up the A83.’
That loss of confidence means Mid Argyll businesses are worried they will miss out on opportunities to capitalise on tourism opportunities, especially on the release of Disney Pixar movie Brave.
