THE CHARACTERS,buildings and landscapes of Lochgilphead in years gone by are being brought to life as a Facebook group for the town goes global.
The Old Lochgilphead Facebook group –http://www.facebook.com/groups/381502925231988/ –launched on the social networking site earlier this year and has proved a sensation with local people, gaining more than 1,300 members.
Set up by Lochgilphead man Scott Mcpherson, the group, which Facebook users request to join,is designed to encourage people living near and far to post pictures of Lochgilphead and surrounding areas,as well as pictures of local characters.
Inspired by a similar Facebook group called Old Islay,Scott said he hoped people would post pictures and stories on the page to remind folk that Mid Argyll is a ‘braw wee place to live’.
