Family remembers Wren murdered in Inveraray

wren-plaque-06_a27wren07THE FAMILY of a young Irish woman killed in Inveraray 70 years ago this week unveiled a memorial for her in the Royal Burgh on the anniversary of her death.

The Canning Family, from County Donegal, unveiled a plaque in the woodlands of Inveraray on Saturday in tribute to their aunt Gertrude Canning, whose murder still remains a mystery.

Gertrude, who served with the Women’s Royal Naval Services in Inveraray, was 20-years-old when she was found dead in the woodlands behind Loch Fyne; she had been shot four times.
