A 72–YEAR-old man missing on Binnean an Fhidhleir above Butterbridge at the Rest-and-be-Thankful on Monday January 16 2012 has died as a result of his injuries.
The man set off the day before to climb the hill but had been reported missing by his family when he had not called home at the end of the day. Rescue teams searched through the night but had failed to find any trace of him.
Oban Mountain Rescue team joined Arrochar and Strathclyde Police teams at daylight and were lifted onto the hill by the Rescue 177 helicopter. 
The helicopter then located the missing man but could not land and directed the Oban team to the location.
The team treated the injured man but he later died.
